An elegant pair of English Regency Revival nesting tables, c. 1900-1930 and distinguished by beautifully figured burl wood, delicate proportions, and refined inlaid decoration.
Each rectangular top features a striking central oval panel of richly figured burl veneer, displaying dramatic swirling grain, knots, and natural variations that give each table its own character. The burl centers are surrounded by contrasting figured veneers arranged in geometric sections and accented with fine line inlay and crossbanded borders, creating a sophisticated composition inspired by late Georgian and Regency cabinetmaking.
The tables stand on exceptionally slender turned supports with subtle ring-turned details. Shaped aprons beneath the tops, horizontal stretchers, and gracefully splayed feet contribute to their light, architectural appearance. Despite their delicate proportions, the construction is practical: the smaller table slides beneath the larger when not in use.
Probably English, circa 1900–1930, the tables reflect the renewed interest in Regency and Georgian furniture designs during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The pair retains an appealing aged surface with expected scratches, minor veneer imperfections and losses, finish variation, and general wear consistent with age and use. These characteristics contribute to their authentic vintage appearance while preserving the beautiful color and figuring of the veneers.
Ideal beside a sofa or armchair, the tables can be used together or separately as drinks tables, lamp tables, plant stands, or occasional side tables. Their narrow footprint makes them particularly useful where space is limited.
