An exceptional French Art Deco illuminated wall-mounted shaving and vanity mirror, attributed to Maison Brot of Paris, dating to approximately 1925–1940. A sophisticated combination of elegant design, precision engineering, and practical functionality, this remarkable mirror reflects the craftsmanship and innovation associated with French luxury bathroom furnishings of the early 20th century.
The mirror features a substantial articulated metal mounting mechanism with an unusually decorative, fleur-de-lis-inspired wall plate, gracefully curved supporting arm, and finely detailed knurled adjustment fittings. Its adjustable construction allows the mirror to be positioned for shaving, grooming, or dressing.
A particularly distinctive feature is the integrated electric illumination, incorporating a circular frosted-glass aperture designed to provide soft, diffused lighting through the mirror surface. This innovative arrangement closely resembles the celebrated Mirophar illuminated mirrors introduced by Maison Brot in 1927.
The substantial metal construction, original porcelain-insulated lamp socket, integral switch, and finely engineered adjustable mounting assembly further support the attribution to French manufacture during the Art Deco period.
The mirror retains its beautifully aged original metal surfaces and hardware, displaying an authentic patina consistent with its age. The electrical wiring has been renewed, while the original period plug has been preserved separately.
An uncommon and highly decorative example of French Art Deco functional design, equally suited to a distinguished dressing room, luxurious bathroom, or thoughtfully curated antique interior.
